Alec Baldwin is facing involuntary manslaughter charges for his role in the Rust shooting. Over one year ago, tragedy struck on the set of the western Rust when the cast and crew were rehearsing a scene and a prop gun accidentally discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. It was soon revealed that Alec Baldwin was the one holding the gun, and he has repeatedly denied pulling the trigger. Production of Rust has been suspended indefinitely while authorities in New Mexico investigate the incident.

Now, that investigation has been completed, and according to the Wall Street Journal, prosecutors plan to charge Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter for his role in the Rust shooting. The film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, is also expected to be charged with involuntary manslaughter. The film’s first assistant director, David Halls, has pled guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon.
